Deadboy & The Elephantmen

Whoa!  You guys need to check this band out.  One of my buddies down here in C-town turned me onto the band.  Check out this video to get a taste. Fucking A. These guys (and girl) rock the house down.

Anyways. I haven’t been climbing in a good while but I finally figured out what is wrong with my finger. I have a ganglion cyst on my ring finger tendon. I’m getting it removed a week from Tuesday (outpatient surgery) with a 3-4 week recovery time. I’m pretty psyched it’s not my actual tendon that’s been hurting. I’m looking forward to getting on a rope very soon. It’s been too long. Erich and I are still planning to go to Europe this November so if anybody else is interested, feel free to come along.

Over and out…

E*trade Commercial Spoof

Whats up people?  I’ve been glued to my computer for the last couple of weeks editing a video for work.  The information we are presenting is quite dry so we’ve decided to inject a little humor into it.  In the area I work in, virtualization is becoming increasingly popular for enterprise data centers.

Virtualization: A method of making a physical entity act as multiple, independent logical entities.

Anyways, enough about that stuff…I just wanted to give you a little background on what Virtualization really is before I showed you the video.  My fcp skills are improving slowly but surely.

Just flexin’ the golden pipes…

Mountain Bike

Cannondale F4z So I’m in the mountain bike game these days.  I got a   Cannondale F4z hardtail mountain bike.  It’s pretty rad so far.  It’s basically the F4 with upgraded components and a sweet air shock.  I didn’t ever do any mountain biking in Boone because I was too wrapped up in rock climbing.  Down here, although there are not any mountains, there are still some hills and some decent trails around.  I figure it’s a good way to stay in shape and beats the shit out of doing cardio in the gym.  I’m looking forward to taking it up to Dark Mountain in Wilkes and down to the FATS trails near Augusta.  I took it out for the first time yesterday and it was awesome.  The shifting is crazy smooth and the bike seems to be very responsive.  I’m pretty psyched about it.

Until next time, Cheers!

Superbowl

Ah, it was nice to see the Saints pull it off last night!  I went over to my buddy Cade’s house to watch the show with some friends.  Cade and I made some chicken wings that were splitter!  Check out this link to find out the secret to oven baked wings!    I stayed in Columbia this weekend because of the inclement weather in Boone.  I’ve been seriously trying to make it up there for the past month!  It’s been a week since they stabbed my finger and it still remains a little sore.  I’m beginning to have doubts that it will get better.  How bout a music update?

Stuff I’ve been listening to:

  • Deftones
  • Isis (I guess you could call it “Stoner Metal”)
  • Spoon (They have a new album called “Transference” plus I’m going to see them in March)

What have you been listening to?  Let’s hear it in the comments!

A Step in the Right Direction

Cortisone Injection ManSo as many of you know, my finger has been ailing me for the past several months.  My injury is at the base of my ring finger around the A2 pulley.  Lately, I’ve noticed more of the pain even further down my hand (near the A1 pulley).  It doesn’t really bother me while I’m climbing although it gets sore after I get done and the following days.  Since I’m sort of a hypochondriac, I decided I needed to go to the doctor to get some professional advice.   I went in today and he didn’t think I strained anything.  He did notice some inflammation in two of my pulleys.  So, out comes the cortisone shot!  I was actually kind of excited just because it might be the answer to my little problem.  He jacked my finger up, it went numb, and I went back to work.  He said I should chill for a couple weeks and head back for a follow up.  Sweet!  For now, only time will tell.

It looks like I’ll be heading up to Boonola this weekend.  Although the weather looks like shit (no way!), it will be nice to see some friends and get a couple things done.  Holla at me.
